So it’s been a really, really long time since I’ve posted. That doesn’t mean I’ve been idle. In fact, it means that I’ve been too busy to update. Here’s from my most recent shoot. I’ll be following up with some highlights of 2011.

Kristen Class of 2010

By doing senior photography, you don’t get a lot of repeat clients, but you do get siblings. This is the case for Kristen. I had photographed her sister Maddie a couple of years ago and Kristen was keen on having me do hers as well. Both girls were extremely photogenic and possessed an uncommon comfort level in front of the camera. I had so much fun with Kristen, and the results were spectacular!

Rebekah – Class of 2010

After years of assisting me with photo shoots, it was time to shoot my sister Rebekah’s photos. Lucky for me, Rebekah loves to be in front of the camera, and for good reason – she looks good there. Like most of my shoots I do a few head shots for Mom and several fun artistic shots for the senior and everything in between.

Allison – Class of 2010

Allison has been a close friend of my sister’s for many years. I was very excited when she asked me to do her senior pictures. Not only because she’s a joy to be around, but also because she’s such a beautiful person inside and out.

Allison came with some requests, like many of my seniors. Her mom wanted tight head shots and she wanted lots of black and whites. I always appreciate these requests, especially if you want black and whites. Doing a simple desaturation is often not enough. Good black and whites often need photoshop tweaking to get the contrast right.

A Glimpse at Summer

A busy summer has prevented me from addressing this blog. To me, doing actual work is more important than displaying it, but nevertheless, as a Marketing professional, I know it’s importance.

Here’s some images I pulled from three of my favorite shoots this summer.

This photo shoot took advantage of my iStock photography discount. This means that you can purchases these images online here. Please be mindful that while these images are royalty free, they are not restriction free, so read the fine print.

I tried a few new locations for this shoot, as many photographers have begun to discover my other locations. These are little more edgy than my typical Senior Shots, but still in line with current trends.

That session can be contrasted with these images which are more experimental. I would not include images like the following in a session, unless explicitly asked.

Finally, here was a fun child photo shoot. I love it when parents ask me to take photos of their children that allow to bring out their personalities. Here’s the result:

There are two more of these posts to follow. I’ve been busy taking photos and editing so I haven’t had much time updating the blog.

This particular photoshoot was a senior photo session and an engagement photo session all in one. I had a ton of fun! Chris and Ronae were great and I wish them all the happiness in the future!

New Camera!!!

I just ordered the new Canon 5D Mark II today! For everyone that’s not so technical when it comes to cameras, it’s pretty much the best thing since well anything. It’s got so many features that I’m excited about, but a few that most everyone can understand are the incredible 21.1mp (double what I currently have), improved handling of low light situations, and HD video recording!? I was a bit surprised by that last feature, but I’m pretty excited about it. It means I can use my high end lenses for video recording. Also, I do a lot of charitable work, and I can think of numerous times it would have been helpful to have both a camera and a video camera in one.

But, strictly from a portrait photography point of view, this camera will allow me a good deal more options in terms of cropping, lighting situations, and effects (like fisheye). My current camera will serve as a great back-up camera. And, in situations where I need two lenses, instead of switching back and forth, I’ll be able to save time by using both camera bodies!

The only thing is, I have to wait until November to get it.
